                                  IN THE BEGINNING

This is Coy the day he was born. His dam, Bonanza Canyon Kate, was my all time favorite mare. She was sweet and gentle, athletic and willing. All of which she passed on to Coy. He was an easy foal to be around, even letting me go out to the pasture and sit with him while he was lying down. I can still sit with him in his stall or pasture. Katie was sold and is now living in Nine Mile,WA. Her new owner enjoys taking Katie out on trial rides and to team penning. Kate's pedigree includes ADA Captain Coy, Coy's Bonanza, Custus Rastus, Jaguar, Spooks Trophy Boy, and Scootin Spook.

 RISKEYS MOMA TESS

JoLynn Matula, the owner of RR Riskymastrpiece, shared this interesting story behind this wonderful mare. First, although the names are similar, she is not related to Ris Key Business. "Tess" was sold in the early 1980's through a sale and her papers were lost. However, she had produced a horse called Peaches Moon Bar. This one had turned into quite a roping horse. The owner of Ris Key Business had kept up with this horse and ended up buying Tess when she was 14. He had her registered with APHA and bred her to Ris Key Business.

Tess had 4 APHA registered foals before she died. Two were shown with APHA. One of them is "Another Risk" who earned his ROM in Reining, Honor Roll Gelding, and was 2 time Reserve World Champion in Reining. He also placed 8th in the 1998 APHA World.

                     Breeding
Coy is 70% black and was UC Davis tested to be homozygous for the tobiano gene. He is 15.2 hands. and 1200 lbs. Conformationally he is correct, with a nice head, heavy bone, and large strong feet. His disposition is one of a kind. So much so that when he was at Matt's they called him "Grandpa".

Coy's first foal crop was born in 2007. He had 3 fillies and 1 colt. One is a smoky black tobiano, another is a buckskin tobiano and two are sorrel tobiano. All the mares took on their first breeding cycle. The foals are beautiful, smart, athletic, big boned, willing, and just as sweet as their sire. They are just starting to be trained and we cannot wait to see how they do.

Mares who are live covered must have a current negative culture. Mare care is $10/day wet and $7.50/day dry. Or $2.50 less/day and you provide your hay. We have limited space so please book early to ensure your spot.

Coy's breeding fee for 2010 is $500. There is a $150 non-refundable booking fee. This fee is a part of the $500. Plus $250 Shipped Semen fee which must be paid before each shipment of semen. Coy has tested negative for the EVA virus and vaccinated. LCFG

Note: This low breeding fee is in no way an indication of Coy's ability as a performing horse. It is only indicative of the economy.
